APPLICATION CHECK-LIST

A student may enroll via dual enrollment (the school district might provide a portion of the funding) or pay for the course him/herself.

Dual-Enrollment:

The Postsecondary Enrollment Options Act 160 of 1996 states that public high schools may provide full or partial payment for a course offered at an accredited institution that is not offered at the home school (amount paid is based on the school's state aid foundation grant).

To possibly obtain financial assistance from the high school, a student must be: enrolled in a public high school; be of junior or senior standing; have successfully taken the MEAP; completed appropriate paperwork and obtained permission from the school district/counselor; and dropped an elective at the home school (the MJI course will complete the student's semester schedule as an elective).

If enrolling and paying for a course:  you will not receive high school credit, but must still obtain approval from your school prior to enrolling; please remember to include this information (that you took a MJI course) in your college application process; and upon admission to your University, please contact MJI to forward your transcript for credit evaluation.

Scholarships: Partial scholarships are available; please contact MJI for additional information.

Summary of forms/process:

______Complete the on-line “Application” form (prior to “submitting” electronically, please print a copy of the completed page for your records).

_______Complete the "Registration and Authorization Form” (must obtain a
signature from high school counselor/school official).

______If planning to dual enroll -- Obtain and complete own school
district’s paperwork -- including payment voucher (often found on
their web site and/or from school counseling office).

*MJI will bill school district only after receiving this paperwork.

*There is no guarantee of the amount that the school district will provide
(sometimes it is not determined until the course semester is
completed); student’s family is responsible for any remaining
portion and cost for texts/supplies.

______Important to follow-up with MJI office to make sure all paperwork
is received for registration.
